'Night Correspondent' system in Geneva successful

A pilot project in the City of Geneva to prevent unsociable behaviour and fights overnight is being deemed a success and will be extended.

Teams are on the street over the weekend with the aim to end disputes and keep people calm.

Called Night Correspondents, they were first sent out at the beginning of the year, copying an idea that’s been used in several towns in canton Vaud.

The City says the correspondents have acquired legitimacy and are being highly successful in cutting down disruptions and preventing police intervention.

The system will now be extended to cover other areas in the City.
