A new direct night train from Basel to the Swedish city of Malmö is set to roll out in mid-April 2026, if Parliament approves the budget.
The EuroNight service, will run three times a week in both directions and operate year-round, linking Basel with Copenhagen and Malmö – a trip of over 1,400 kilometres.
The route will include stops in Germany and Denmark and carry around 350 passengers in sleeping, couchette, and seated cars.
The project depends on 47 million francs in federal support under the CO₂ law, with Parliament’s decision expected this winter.
