New Covid rules likely today

BAG

The Federal Council is expected to announce new Covid rules later today.

It’s known the health minister Alain Berset is in favour of clamping down – and has been emboldened by the recent vote which backed the government’s restrictions.

It seems likely the 2G rules will be brought in – ending the option to attend public events with just a negative test.

Private gathering will be limited to five if there’s an unvaccinated person over the age of 16 present. Some cantons are opposed to that as they say it can’t be controlled.

It’s also likely Berset will announce a working from home rule. The majority of the cantons back that – although Geneva doesn’t.

It’s thought that will be easier to introduce as Christmas is coming up anyway.

And secondary schools will have to be masked again. During the cantonal consultations, many backed that move.
