New companies set up in Geneva

Despite the economic problems thrown up b the pandemic – 19 new foreign based companies set up in Geneva last year.

Many of the new arrivals specialise in renewable technology. The State Economic Department says the firms are active in waste management, sustainable finance and offsetting CO2 emissions. 

There are others in the medical sector and cyber security. 

It’s expected the firms will create a couple of hundred new local jobs. 

The western area of the country is also being successful in attracting outside investment. The Greater Geneva Bern Association which covers the French speaking cantons and Bern says 86 new companies have settled in the region.
