New cargo bike spaces in Geneva

Geneva is rolling out dedicated parking for cargo bikes, with a total of 270 spaces planned across the canton.

Locations include car parks as well as on-street spots marked with a cargo bike symbol, and will not replace car parking, the Parking Foundation says.

The initiative is part of Geneva’s 2024–2028 Parking Action Plan, aimed at promoting active transport and making public spaces safer for pedestrians.

Cargo bikes are becoming increasingly popular and now make up 9% of bikes in the region.
