New driver crashes in Onex

A newly qualified young driver in Geneva overestimated his abilities and crashed his car into a tree in Onex.

The accident on Wednesday evening caused significant damage – but fortunately only light injuries.

The police say the young man had only passed his test this week. He wanted to give a lift to his friends, but the car ended up being wrapped around a tree. A branch fell from the tree and crashed down on a parked car.

Investigations are underway, but police confirm alcohol was not a factor. They believe it was simply inexperience.

One passenger was taken to hospital for checks, but no one was seriously hurt.
