Move to ban noisy cars from main roads in Geneva

A Geneva MP is pushing to ban loud cars and motorcycles from city streets at night.

Matthieu Jotterand has submitted a motion at the cantonal parliament, targeting main roads such as Route des Acacias and Boulevard du Pont-d'Arve, where night-time traffic noise can exceed 70 decibels on average.

That is roughly the sound of a vacuum cleaner at full power.

If passed, the motion would close those streets to excessively noisy vehicles after dark.
