Mountain cantons flout takeaway only rule

Several cantons in the central part of the country are openly flouting federal regulations and turning a blind eye to mountaintop restaurants which are allowing customers to sit outside in groups.

The law is clear, it only allows takeaway.

But people say they’re enjoying the experience and they don’t believe it's dangerous. One told the Tribune de Genève that he fears travelling on public transport more.

One owner says doing takeaway only is more chaotic as people eat everywhere and don’t maintain distance – it's better with the tables outside.

The willingness of people to knowingly break the rules will be a sign to the government that there’s growing discontentment with the rules.
