The TCS says it has been inundated with call-outs as freezing temperatures grip the country.
Patrol officers carried out more than two thousand interventions on Monday alone - double the usual number.
Most were caused by flat batteries, which lose capacity in cold weather.
Drivers are being advised to switch off power-hungry devices before starting their cars.
The motoring organisation also warns that leaving engines running unnecessarily is illegal and can lead to an on-the-spot fine.
