More of Geneva sealed off ahead of meeting

More barbed wire and closures are spreading across Geneva as the city prepares for the meeting between US president Joe Biden and the Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.

Normally public areas in Eaux-Vives have now been closed and a 2 km perimeter has been set up around the Parc des Eaux-Vives where the summit will take place.

Media tents are going up around the Baby-Plage. 3,000 journalists are expected to attend and podiums for TV cameras are being erected.

Around the Place des Nations extra security is being prepared near the Hotel Intercontinental where President Biden will stay tomorrow night.

While roads are open as normal for the moment, barriers are being lined up ahead of closures due soon.

Authorities are advising people to stay away from the secure areas if possible.
