More ask for delays in paying tax

The cost-of-living crisis means more and more are unable to pay their tax bills, and are asking for a deferment.

A survey by the comparison site, Comparis, show one in six are struggling. They’re either asking for a delay in paying, trying to get a loan from a bank or are asking friends and family for financial help.

The young, those under 35, are having the most difficulty.

The survey also shows there’s a great difference between the language regions. In the French and Italian speaking regions, around 12% have asked for a deferment. In the German areas, only 5%.

Experts warn getting a waiver from paying your tax is extremely rare. You have to show your income is below the subsistence level.
