It could only be good news for the shopper – but it seems the supermarkets are engaging in one of the biggest price wars this country has ever seen.
And it’s Migros firing the first shot.
While it has the two main discounters in its sights, Aldi and Lidl, it also accepts there could be a friendly-fire victim - the Migros-owned Denner.
Migros says it will follow the other outlets when they drop prices on products.
Migros boss, Peter Diethelm, says there will be no reason to go to a discounter anymore. As the other shops also have their own price promises, they will be forced to follow.
