Microsoft invests milions in Switzerland

The US software company Microsoft is to invest USD 400m in expanding its cloud and AI services in Switzerland.

Microsoft head Brad Smith made the announcement in Bern together with the Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin.

Smith cited Switzerland’s strength in IT and highlighted the bank UBS already relies on the company’s cloud servers.

The AI expansion will be centred on healthcare, finance and public administration.

There will also be some money for education. Microsoft wants to train one million people in the country with AI skills by 2027. That will be focused on small businesses and non-profit organisations.
