Across the country marches were held in support of International Women’s Rights Day.

In Geneva large groups gathered on Rousseau Island, the Pont de la Machine and Plainpalais.

Protestors were calling out everyday sexism, the plight of women in Turkey and for the right of abortion.

Similar demonstrations were held in other cities across the country, despite coronavirus regulations.

In Lausanne there was a meeting on the symbolically named Place du 14-Juin which was named after the date of the inclusion of equality into the Swiss constitution.

On the whole, the police let the protests carry on. None had been authorized because of the health situation.

A group of women were fined in Lausanne for being topless.
