A 31-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing his 65-year-old father in Plainpalais on Sunday is reported to be suffering from mental illness.
According to the Tribune de Genève, the two lived together and were known to argue frequently.
The suspect, who has no prior criminal record, reportedly suffers from bipolar disorder and has been treated at a psychiatric hospital.
His father, who was said to be depressed, died from a stab wound to the heart.
The motive for the crime remains unclear.
