Man fined for asking for cash for lost phone

A man who demanded cash to return a lost iPhone has been fined and now faces probation.

A woman lost her phone while at a night club in Bern. It was found by a man who lives in Vaud.

She called her own phone and was told by the man he’d return it for CHF 300 – but they settled on CHF 100.

She travelled to Vaud and got her phone.

But then the man was visited by the police and charged with extortion.

He has to pay CHF 600 in fines and costs and is now on probation for three years.
