Ski resorts at mid-altitudes are increasingly struggling with climate change, as warmer and drier winters threaten snow cover.
In Vaud, the Leysin–Les Mosses resort plans a CHF 20m investment in artificial snowmaking, drawing water from a local reservoir.
But the project faces strong opposition, with more than 500 objections citing high water and energy use.
Supporters say the resort’s survival, as well as hundreds of jobs, depend on it.
