President Ignazio Cassis is pouring cold water on some media speculation that there could be peace talks between Ukraine and Russia in Geneva this week. He says that’s purely media speculation.
The UN Human Rights Council starts its meeting in Geneva today – and the Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov is listed as attending.
Cassis says he has spoken to his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, who has asked Bern to act as mediator.
