Léman Express could extend to Nantua

A feasibility study has been launched to examine the possibility of extending the Léman Express train to serve Bellegarde and Nantua in neighbouring France.

The study is being paid for by 12 French municipalities.

The train would use the existing TGV line running from Geneva to Paris. But there are only 12 services a day, leaving plenty of space for another service.

It would mean some disused stations being reopened and new ones built.

There are hopes the new trains will be running by 2035. The whole project would be paid for by the French government.
