Lawyer urges drivers to contest all fines

A Geneva lawyer is suggesting everyone contest their traffic tickets as they’re being issued illegally.

It’s because the signature is pre-printed. Dina Bazarbachi says that invalidates the notice.

The lawyer has a history of defending the weakest in society – such as those who’ve been fined for begging.

She has some legal backing – a Geneva judge has suspended 135 fines imposed on a beggar, saying the issue deserves to be examined.

The Federal Court has also backed the idea in the past that any penal order must be clearly signed by the person issuing it so they can be identified.
