Lausanne at forefront on antibiotic resistance research

Lausanne is positioning itself at the forefront of fighting antibiotic resistance.

The University Hospital is now authorized to research bacteriophage medicines - these are viruses that attack a specific bacteria.

Scientists hope the treatment will be a successful addition to antibioptics - but far more work needs to be done. 

The Lausanne hospital is making personalized medicines for specific patients - it’s the only public institution in the world authorized to manufacture phages.
