Large tree branches airlifted out of Geneva forest

Helicopters flew across the Bois de la Batie in Geneva yesterday as loggers cut back aging trees.

Large branches were airlifted out.

Forest managers says some of the older trees were becoming too heavy for their cliff side position and there was a risk they could crash down.

The helicopter didn’t fly over houses or busy paths when carrying a load, but instead followed the route of the Rhone for most of the way.

Spotters were positioned around the region to make sure no one wandered into the active area.
