Two big parades took place over the weekend in French-speaking Switzerland. Both have been hailed a success.
It’s estimated that between 100,000 - 120,000 people took part in this weekend’s 22nd edition of the Geneva Lake Parade on Saturday afternoon and Lake Sensation in the evening.
Organiser Christian Kupferschmidt also said that fewer health issues or emergencies arose. On Saturday only 69 people needed care - mostly linked to alcohol or substance usage or for wounds on their feet. That’s down from an average of around 150, pre-Covid.
Meanwhile, in Valais, it was Martigny’s turn to host the Pride march in Suisse-Romande. Thousands congregated at the Place du Manoir and marched through the streets of Martigny.
Pride takes place in Geneva every other year, and moves around other French-speaking cities on alternate years, so next year, Pride 2025 will return to Geneva.
Also over the weekend, the Montreux Jazz Festival wrapped up, as well as Gurtenfestival in Canton Bern. But festival season is certainly not over - tomorrow is the start of Paleo Festival in Nyon.
