2025 was a good year for Geneva hotels - concerns for this year

Geneva’s hotel sector has hit a new record, with nearly 3.9 million overnight stays in 2025, up 1.7 percent on the previous year.

According to the Cantonal Statistics Office, strong demand was driven by winter tourism, major events and new air links, with foreign visitors making up nearly three-quarters of guests.

In an interview with the Tribune de Genève,the president of the Geneva hotel association, Jean-Vital Domézon, says growth was particularly strong early in the year, boosted by international travellers heading to Alpine ski resorts via Geneva.

The profile of visitors is also shifting, with leisure tourism now overtaking business travel since the pandemic.

But uncertainty remains for this year, with geopolitical tensions and the upcoming G7 summit potentially weighing on bookings.
