Two men had to be helicoptered out of the Rhône yesterday afternoon.
They were on kayaks had become dangerously close to the Verbois dam, which is currently being drained. Because of that, any water activity on the river is banned due to fast flowing waters.
Their kayak and all personal items in the boat were lost as it went over the dam.
The operation took 15 firefighters, 4 vehicles and one helicopter.
The men were suffering from hypothermia - but didn’t need hospital treatment.
