A new initiative is targeting air travel to fund public transport.
Backed by environmental groups and left-wing parties, the plan would introduce a tax on flights - starting at CHF 30 per ticket and up to CHF 500 for private jets.
The money raised, around CHF 1.5 bn a year, would be returned to residents as annual mobility vouchers worth over 100 francs.
Supporters say it will boost rail use and cut emissions, while critics warn of higher travel costs.
Organizers claim around 90 percent of people would benefit.
