A major asparagus theft has shocked farmers in canton Fribourg.
In the village of Delley, the Ruegsegger family discovered that around 300 kilos of green asparagus had been stolen from two fields during the height of the harvest season.
The farmer says the theft was highly organized.
The asparagus was reportedly cut overnight with professional precision, suggesting experienced thieves rather than casual opportunists. The losses amount to several thousand francs.
Authorities say such cases remain rare, although similar incidents have been reported in neighboring France amid rising food prices.
