Infomaniak protects itself from takeover

Geneva-based cloud provider Infomaniak has transferred majority control of the company to a public-interest foundation.

Founder Boris Siegenthaler says the move is designed to make the firm immune to takeover and to lock in its commitments to data sovereignty and sustainability.

Under the new structure, no sale or change of control can happen without the foundation's approval.

All 37 shareholders - mainly employees -  agreed unanimously to reduce their voting rights.

Founded in 1994, Infomaniak employs more than 340 people and posted revenue of CHF 56m last year.
