The International Labour Organization in Geneva is facing a major financial shortfall of nearly half a billion francs, putting hundreds of jobs at risk.
According to reports, the organisation’s operating budget deficit could lead to up to 350 job cuts out of around 1,600 staff.
The funding crisis is linked in part to the United States reducing its participation in UN agencies under recent policy shifts.
No final decisions have been taken yet, but a plan is expected next month.
