Hundreds leave nursing every month

Hundreds of nurses are leaving the profession every month, complaining about over work and under pay.

Many also say it’s hard to reconcile the shift work and a social life.

According to the latest numbers from the Health Observatory, 36% of nurses aged between 20 and 24 leave within their first few years on the job.
In all, around 300 leave every month.

A new training programme is due to be rolled out next year – worth around a billion francs.

There are 7,000 nursing vacancies in Switzerland at the moment.
