The second wave is over in Geneva.
That’s the conclusion of the Cantonal Statistic Office which has released numbers showing the average death rate, from all causes, in the canton was lower this January than last.
Last month 286 people died – in normal circumstances, that number would have been around 366.
The office says the numbers show the excess deaths caused by the second wave of the pandemic is over.
But the figures for the whole of last year are sobering – in total 4,224 people died. The highest number since modern records began in 1974.
