Homeopathy could be removed from health insurance

The medical treatment of homeopathy could be excluded from basic health insurance.

The Federal Health Office has to decide after one individual launched an official procedure.

Homeopathy was added to the list of claimable treatments in 2012 – but has always been controversial.

But it isn’t costing insurance companies much – only CHF 17m a year.

The issue is due to be discussed by parliament, but the final decision could be down to the interior minister Elizabeth Baume-Schneider.

The timeline for a decision isn’t clear
