Hodgers quits Geneva gvt with warning about Greater Geneva

One of the leading figures in Geneva politics for many years, Antonio Hodgers, says he’s resigning from government and will not be standing for re-election.

He says as a member of the Green Party he says all his policies he’s put forward over the years have either been done or are in the process of being done.

He’s also been a leading figure within the Greater Geneva governing council - which covers Geneva, Vaud and neighbouring France.

He says improvements need to be made there. He points out that as the Geneva representative, he’s often left to mediate differences between French municipalities. He says its essential French officials speak with one voice at the council.

His resignation is now leading to a battle between the parties on who should replace him on the Geneva Grand Council.
