Hinduja trial postponed

The much-anticipated trial of members of the mega wealthy Hinduja family in Geneva has been postponed as two of the defendants failed to appear.

The parents, aged 78 and 75 claim they are too ill to travel. Lawyers showed judges a medical note from the doctors in Dubai, where they’re currently based.

But their son and his wife did turn up.

The family is accused of employing staff at their Geneva villa on meagre salaries and forcing them to work all day, every day and housing them in a basement with no windows.

Judges say opening arguments will now start on Wednesday. If the defendants fail to arrive then, prosecutors suggest there could be contempt charges.
