The remains of a man who was reported missing in 2016 have been found in canton Valais.
Hikers in the Petit Combin area came across a backpack. A police search then uncovered human remains.
DNA analysis confirms the remains belong to a German man who went missing in October 2016. At the time, his car was abandoned in a nearby car park.
A search was taken at the time, but no trace of the man was found.
Police have launched an investigation.
