Highest zero degree mark

The heatwave has broken another record – the highest level for the zero-degree mark.

MeteoSuisse says to find the freezing point you would have to climb to 5,298 meters. Although you couldn’t as the highest point in the country is the Dufourspitze at 4,634 meters.

The new record beats the previous one, set last year, by 100 meters.

The forecasters record the zero-degree market everyday using weather balloons.

A more normal level at this time of year would be 4,000 meters, but that’s changing – and quickly.
