Health insurance premiums are set to rise faster than officially announced.
While the Federal Council predicted a 4.4% increase for 2026, a Deloitte Switzerland study shows the cheapest premiums could jump by nearly 7%, adding around 23 francs per household each month.
The impact varies by region: Zug will see a drop due to government support, while cantons such as Ticino and Valais face sharp increases.
Rising costs, combined with regional and political factors, explain the differences.
The study also predicts that 7 to 10% of policyholders, roughly 900,000 people, could switch insurers next year.
