Swiss Green Party leader Lisa Mazzone has called on the government to declare US President Donald Trump persona non grata and bar him from attending the World Economic Forum’s meeting in Davos in two weeks’ time.
Mazzone says Trump’s capture of Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro violated international law and undermined state sovereignty and that Switzerland should not give him a platform.
The federal government has acknowledged the operation as a breach of international law but says there is no legal basis to deny Trump entry.
The World Economic Forum has not yet commented on the matter.
