Govt takes gentle approach to chaos

The Federal Council is creating a special team to deal with the uncertainty coming out of the United States.

It’s calm and discreet approach to the crisis is being widely praised.

Yesterday, the president Karin Keller-Sutter spoke directly to Donald Trump – no details are being released about the call, Keller-Sutter told the NZZ that sometimes it’s better not to share all your thoughts.

The new team is being headed by the Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis and will bind together several departments.

A special envoy, Ambassador Gabriel Lüchinger, is being sent to the US. It’s also hoped that as a card-carrying member of the Swiss People’s Party, it will open more doors to Republican Party members in Washington.
