Government set to outline exit plan

The Federal Council looks set to announce a gradual return to normal life. But it will be slow.

What insiders say is likely, the government will reveal new and lighter set of regulations every month – starting on March 1st. But it won’t be a complete reopening, which is being demanded by the Swiss People’s Party. Bars and restaurants will have to wait a bit.

But some shops could be allowed to open and the limit on the numbers of people meeting outside could be raised.

The government is said to be aware people are becoming corona tired and they need a plan to see the end of the restrictions. There have been more and more rule breakers, such as an illegal parade in canton Schwyz and food stands in ski resorts putting out tables for people to sit. Technically illegal, but being tolerated.

As spring approaches – there could be more understanding that outside is different from inside and the rules will reflect that.

The government is likely to stress – all the changes will be dependent on the infection rate.
