Germany threatens Swiss arms boycott

German politicians are threatening never to buy any arms from Switzerland ever again.

The argument stems from this country’s refusal to allow the re-export of ammunition to be sent to Ukraine.

Under neutrality rules, Switzerland needs to give its consent.

Germany first asked if 12,000 rounds of 35 mm anti-aircraft ammunition could be sent to Ukraine in June – that was refused.

Germany has asked again – but this time saying it's for a humanitarian mission as it will be used to secure grain exports from Odessa. Bern has yet to respond.
