Geneva voters have given an almost unanimous backing of a new method of recalling elected members of the government.
The new rules mean a politician can be forced out by a vote in the Grand Council and then confirmed by the people.
The proposal was launched following the scandal surrounding Pierre Maudet who’s been convicted of accepting gifts while in office.
A massive 92% of voters backed the changes.
But Geneva voters have rejected a proposal to allow shops to open longer on Saturdays. 53% said ‘no’ to the move. The result also means the experiment which was allowing shops to open on three Sundays a year will likely end.
Elsewhere, 63% in Zurich backed a law to force owners of domestic boilers run by fossil fuels to change them to cleaner versions when they reach the end of their working life.
There will be financial support for those making the switch.
