Geneva unveils transport plans

Canton Geneva has unveiled its proposed plans for transport over the next few years.

Headed by the minister, Pierre Maudet, the Department of Health and Mobility has published 5 action plans.

The canton wants to promote soft mobility, especially cycling. The plans propose 80km of routes for bikes and pedestrians.

It also proposes pedestrian zones to encourage walking in the city centre.

Trams will be extended and more bus lines will be electrified.

On street parking in town will be limited, but in return more Park and Ride facilities will be created.

The canton is also looking to encourage car-sharing by creating lanes only for cars with more than one occupant.
