Geneva will provide all schools with free female sanitary products.
The vote in the cantonal Council of State nearly failed as the original motion was to provide free products in all state buildings. But an amendment put forward by the Liberals restricted it to schools meant it was able to pass.
One Green Party member, Alessandra Oriolo, asked why is the provision of toilet paper obvious, but not female products?
She told the men in the chamber that it’s impossible for them to understand the stress of not having the products you need when you need them.
