The City of Geneva has given the go ahead to pedestrianize large areas of Rive.
The council has allocated nearly CHF 45m for the work.
The new zones will run from the Museum of Art and History and the Jardin Anglais.
The entire project will take five years, but will be done in stages to prevent too much disruption to local businesses.
