Geneva - strange Euro laggard

Stade de Genève

Tickets for the Women’s Euro Championships, being hosted in Switzerland this time, are selling well everywhere, except Geneva.

670,000 tickets were available, and 600,000 have been sold. Most venues are now sold out – except two games due to be played at the Stade de Genève: Denmark-Sweden and Portugal-Italy.

The quarter and semi-final matches that will be hosted in Geneva are now sold out – but it’s a mystery why these two games are lagging.

Some commentators suggest its’ slightly understandable the Denmark-Sweden game is struggling – but it is a surprise the Italian and Portuguese match is also unsold – considering the both countries have sizable communities in Geneva.

There are hopes that when the tournament gets underway, ticket sales will be given a boost.
