Geneva sticks to school exclusion policy

The Geneva government is refusing to budge on its decision to exclude children who live in France from the cantonal schools.

Last week French officials met their Geneva counterparts to discuss the situation. France is concerned its schools won’t have the capacity to handle the excluded children.

But the French said the canton’s response was ‘obtuse’.

They say they remain opposed to the policy – calling it unfair and brutal – and say they’ve made proposals to find an agreement.
