Geneva solidarity vouchers hailed a success

The solidarity vouchers sold by the City of Geneva are being hailed a success.

The programme has now come to an end – but any unused vouchers will remain valid until the end of the year.

Over 160,000 vouchers, worth between 20 and 200 francs, were sold. They gave users discounts of up to 33% and are being credited for injecting CHF 24m into the local economy.

The city paid the 600 participating businesses the difference – which cost CHF 6m.

A quarter of the vouchers were used in bike shops.
