Geneva police are investigating the death of a dog on the Lignon housing estate.
On Friday night, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, fell to its death from 40 meters.
The owner was briefly arrested.
One of the locals told the press the man was known to have a drinking problem and was heard cursing the dog and threatening witnesses.
An investigation has been launched. The cantonal vet, Michel Rérat, says if an intentional and cruel killing can be proved, the owner could be fined up to CHF 20,000 and face three years in jail.
