The weekend’s Open Caves wine event in Geneva was one of the busiest ever.
It was the first time the local vineyards could throw open their doors for two years because of the pandemic.
The hot weather also had an impact. Alain Graber – who owns the Gondettes estate in Satigny, told the Tribune de Gèneve, there were more people than in 2019, which was also a very good year. He added the mood was great – everyone was relaxed.
While the exact numbers are not yet known, the Office for the Promotion of Geneva Agriculture – which organises the event – says at least 20,000 tasting glasses were sold.
If you missed that – don’t panic. Canton Vaud has its own event on the weekend of the 4th and 5th June.
